US Open Tennis : Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in a straightforward victory to go to his fourth grand slam quarterfinal.

Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, kept up his strong US Open form with a commanding 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory over Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.


It means that Daniil Medvedev, who takes on Alcaraz on Friday, and three-time champion Novak Djokovic will be two of the three past champions in the men’s semifinals at the US Open this year.

The semifinal lineup is completed by unseeded American Ben Shelton. Alcaraz and Djokovic, the top two seeds in the competition, are the heavy favorites to advance to Sunday’s final, which would be a rematch of the Wimbledon championship match in July.

 

After defeating the Spaniard,  Zverev  told the media, “I think they are at a level of their own at the moment. “The other men need to get up to speed. That’s all there is to it.
