Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, praised the successful launch of Aditya-L1, the nation’s first solar mission, on Saturday.

Adityanath said on the social media platform ‘X’ in Hindi: “PSLV-C57/Aditya-L1 mission was successfully launched today, symbolises the potential of ‘New India’ with the purpose to serve the entire humanity. Many wishes for the entire success of this important endeavor to become the ‘new Sun’ of the hopes of 140 crore compatriots under the leadership of the revered prime minister!”

After the recent success of its lunar mission, Chandrayan-3, ISRO on September 2 launched the nation’s ambitious solar mission, Aditya-L1. The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), which stands 44.4 meters tall and is around 135 kilometers from Chennai, launched majestically at the scheduled time of 11:50 a.m. as the 23:40-hour countdown came to an end.

Aditya-L1 is the first space-based observatory to study the Sun, according to ISRO. The spacecraft is anticipated to be placed in a Halo orbit around the Lagrangian point L1, which is thought to be closest to the Sun, after traveling around 1.5 million kilometers from Earth over 125 days.

Aditya-L1 will stay in earth-bound orbits for 16 days, during which it will undergo five manoeuvres to gain the necessary velocity for its journey.
