At the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday, a 10-man Mohun Bagan Super Giant defeated East Bengal 1-0 thanks to a goal from Dimitri Petratos.
Mohun Bagan SG became the first team in Durand Cup history to capture 17 titles with this triumph. East Bengal is the second-most successful team in the Durand Cup with 16 championships.
Dimitri Petratos, an Australian attacker for Mohun Bagan, scored a goal for the Mariners in the 71st minute. Anirudh Thapa of Mohun Bagan received a red card in the 62nd minute, giving East Bengal an advantage, but they were unable to take advantage of it.

East Bengal, the only unbeaten club in the championship game, took control of the game as it went on despite Mohun Bagan SG having more ball possession in the opening 30 minutes.
In the last few seconds of the first half, the game gathered up speed. For East Bengal, Mohamad Rakip and Borja Herrera worked together to assemble a counterattack, but Nandhakumar Sekar was unable to keep the volley on target.
On the other end, Mohun Bagan SG also demonstrated some urgency. In the fifth minute of extra time, the Mariners had the finest chance of the first half, but Dimitri Petratos was unable to handle the strength of the shot and the Mariners were unable to score.
The current Indian Super League winners, Mohun Bagan SG, were held back by three yellow cards just before halftime despite having a scoreless first half.
