With a roster of athletes who possess the skills of wrestlers for tackling and defense, Iran has established itself as the second most formidable team in the world. They have secured one silver medal this year and have previously won two bronze medals.

In the context of Western countries participating in the Kabaddi World Cup, New Zealand emerges as the most potent team representing the western side. New Zealand has also clinched a total of three medals in the World Cup tournaments, with one silver and two bronze medals to their name.

However, it’s worth noting that many countries among the participating nations in the Kabaddi World Cup are still striving to achieve the status of being among the top three teams. Seven of the Kabaddi-playing nations have yet to secure a medal, indicating the ongoing competition and efforts to excel in the sport.

India is always known for his dominance in kabaddi in the world  Cup and won 6 wprld Cup title out of 7. India lost 2020 worldcup by 43 – 41 margin against Pakistan . This the Only time India lost any world cup title .

In 2010 world cup India beat Pakistan by the margin of 58 -24 and won First world cup title and then no one came near to India until In 2014 India beat Pakistan by 45 – 42 .

And Only two more teams who played final other than India and Pakistan are Canada and England.

India beat cananda by the margin of 59 – 25 in 2011 world cup and India beat England by the margin of 62 – 20 in 2016 world cup.

 

Kabaddi world cup is usually conducted in two styles – Standard style and Circle style :

The first kabaddi world cup in Standard form was held in Mumbai in 2004 and was put on by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF). India won the inaugural championship by defeating Iran 55–27 in the game’s finale.

Five teams are split into two pools according to the tournament’s structure, with the top two teams from each pool moving on to the semifinals.

India has won all three Kabaddi World Cup championships in Standard format since the competition’s start in 2004, 2007 and 2016.

In the meantime, the Government of Punjab in India oversees the worldwide circular type kabaddi world cup.

Since its creation in 2010, the competition has been held each year with the exception of 2015 due to the Guru Granth Sahib desecration incident.

India has won six of the seven Kabaddi World Cups played in a circle, while Pakistan won the final competition in 2020.
