The Proteas win convincingly to tie the series. It appeared as though Australia would win the chase early on, but South Africa came back admirably and ultimately triumphed by a huge margin of 111 runs. They were launched into the stratosphere by Warner and Head. Even after Head was dismissed for 38 in the eighth over, they continued to seem unstoppable as the ball traveled to all parts of the field. When South Africa’s spinners entered the game, however, everything changed. When Australia attempted to hit their way out of it, Shamsi and Maharaj took advantage of the pressure by piling up the dots first to increase it. Warner hid out while Marsh tried to be overly expansive.

While he was out there, Labuschagne appeared good, but a charging He lost to Shamsi, and Australia’s spine immediately gave way. Together, Shamsi and Maharaj bowled superbly, and Coetzee entered to do the job. South Africa scored a dominant 338 earlier in the day thanks to de Kock’s breezy 82 and Markram’s brilliant century.
