1. Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Aqib Javed, and Mushtaq Ahmed were all detained in Grenada during the 1993 West Indies tour and were all charged with marijuana possession. All four, however, were set free on bond after no evidence was uncovered against them. The first Test match, which was supposed to begin on April 15, had to be delayed by one day as a result of this occurrence.

2. In 1992, after shocking England in their own backyard with a reverse swing, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis faced harsh criticism from the English media, which accused them of ball-tampering.

3. Just before the match of Pakistan’s 1996 World Cup quarterfinal encounter against India in Bangalore, captain Wasim Akram backed out, prompting vice-captain Aamir Sohail to take over as captain.

4. Fast bowler Ata-ur-Rahman claimed in 1998 that Wasim Akram had paid him to perform poorly in a match against New Zealand in Christchurch in 1993–1994. Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum later declared that Akram cannot lead Pakistan once more after conducting the investigation into the fixing incident. He continued, saying that he had a soft spot for Akram because he was a big admirer, after announcing the verdict.
