Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka win ITF World Champion awards (2023)
Novak Djokovic Given that he had won three of the four Grand Slams this year, Novak Djokovic was awarded the 2023 ITF World Champion Award after finishing the season at the top. To be eligible for the ITF World Championship award, one must advance to the semi-finals of every grand slam. This was Novak Djokovic’s eighth consecutive title.
Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the French Open and Wimbledon semifinals, won her first major at the Australian Open, and placed second at the U.S. Open.
The Belarusian, who lost to Iga Swiatek for the year-end #1 ranking at the WTA Finals, described 2023 as “amazing” and expressed happiness at being crowned world champion. She stated in the ITF release, “I can’t wait to get back out on court for the new season in January.”

Other ITF World Champions included the following: Diede de Groot in the women’s wheelchair category, Alfie Hewett in the men’s wheelchair category, Niels Vink in the quad wheelchair category, Storm Hunter and Elise Mertens in the women’s doubles, and Alina Korneeva and Joao Fonseca in the juniors categories.
After Winning the Australian Open, French Open, and U.S. Open to increase his major trophy total to a men’s-leading 24, Djokovic also finished second at Wimbledon and topped the ATP rankings for a record-breaking eighth time. He spent 56-7 and won seven titles to lead the men’s tour.
